The Nelson Mandela Scottish Memorial Foundation is making a final push in its £150,000 appeal for a statue of Nelson Mandela in Glasgow's Nelson Mandela Place. The statue will commemorate Mandela's visit to Glasgow in October 1993 to receive in person the Freedom of the City of the nine British cities granted to him when he was a prisoner on Robben Island. In 1981 Glasgow was the first city to give Mandela Freedom of the City. For the latest on the appeal go to https://mandelascottishmemorial.org/final-push-for-scotlands-mandela-statue-please-donate
